About the Society

The Croatian Society of Conference Interpreters (HDKP) was founded in 1974 as the Society of Simultaneous and Consecutive Interpreters of Croatia, with the aim of promoting conference interpreting and the interpreting profession. All members of the Croatian Society of Conference Interpreters are experienced interpreters who abide by the Society’s professional standards and code of ethics and whose work meets the highest quality standards.
HDKP members have joined international societies of interpreters, notably the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC); thus, they also respect their codes of professional ethics.

The main goal of the Society is to foster, support and develop the conference interpreting sector by:

  • bringing interpreters together
  • promoting and advancing the profession
  • awareness-raising about professional ethics
  • informing the public and strengthening the profession’s reputation
  • representing the interests of conference interpreters
  • networking with similar associations
